Definitely one of our family favourites this winter. I love it when the flat is filled with this lovely warm Christmassy scent of apples and cinnamon. And when Max is sitting in front of the oven to wait for his favourite winter treat. |
Portions: 2 adults + 2 children
Cooking time: 10 mins + 20 mins baking
What's in it: Nuts will give you magnesium and iron. Apples are a good source of Vitamin C which helps absorbing iron and supports a healthy immune system. A great combination for the cold season.
Ingredients:
- 6 Braeburn apples
- 1 handful almonds
- 1 handful hazelnuts
- 1 handful raisins
- 4 tablespoons marzipan
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 20g unsalted butter
- Good quality vanilla ice cream
Preparation:
- Preheat oven to 180ºC.
- Cut out apple seeds using a small knife.
- In a food processor, mix together nuts, raisins and marzipan until nuts are small enough not to be a choking hazard.
- Stuff apples with nut mixture, place in a baking dish/tray and add a small knob of butter on top.
- Bake for 20mins or until soft.
- Serve warm with vanilla ice cream or custard

About this blog
This blog is about family cooking. It's important to get together for family meals. Here I'm posting healthy family recipes that kids and adults will love and make cooking for the family more fun. All my family recipes are well balanced and healthy family recipes but they can be tweaked for fussy eaters or spiced up for a more sophisticated adult palate. In addition to the healthy family recipes, I'm publishing some of my knitting and crochet patterns for toddler toys and accessories.
